En jännittänyt Saksaan muuttamista etukäteen juuri ollenkaan
(koulun alkua kyllä senkin edestä). Olen asunut ennenkin ulkomailla, ja
muuttanut noin ylipäätään aika monta kertaa, joten muuton suhteen tiesin suurin piirtein mihin
I wasn't too nervous about moving to Germany, though the start of school here was another story. I've been living abroad before as well, and moved quite a few times in general, so I kind of knew already what to expect. I had received really detailed information from the school regarding my arrival on the campus, so I was pretty confident with that part too. I'm glad to say that the move-in was moreless as easy as I had expected.
I was pretty tired on the moving day, because I had booked a very early flight and my sleeping schedule didn't quite match the early hour of the departure. So I went to the airport half-sleeping, said goodbye to J and went through the security check into the airplane. In Frankfurt I realised that moving around is not very easy with two heavy suitcases and one full backbag. Luckily there was somebody helping me every time I had to take stairs, so I managed to get to the train station in one piece.

Hui!
At the new home city I first headed to a cafe to have lunch before finding my way to the dormitory. Getting the keys was an easy process and quite similar to how it goes with Finnish student housing. So I dragged my bags up to my flat (no lift in the building, fun!) and saw my home away from home for the first time. The flat was way nicer than I had expected, and around that time I also finally started to realise I really am here and going to stay for a while too.

Although I was really tired at this point, I managed to do some shopping twice (first for cleaning equipment and food, next time for some tableware) and clean the surfaces of the flat. A professional cleaner had been there before my move-in, but so had some painters and I wanted everything to be clean before unpacking the suitcases. After all the hustle I went to bed absolutely knackered.

Tiistai, eli toinen saksapäivä, oli täynnä asioiden
hoitamista. Kävin hakemassa yhden lappusen tuolta ja viemässä toisen paperin toisaalle. Taas uusi kauppareissu (miten paljon yhteen kämppään pitää hankkia
tavaraa!?) ja matkalaukkujen purkamista. Täytyy sanoa, että oli vähän kiireisemmät
ekat päivät täällä, kuin aikanaan Lontooseen muuttaessa. Tosin silloin mulla
olikin hostperheessä kaikki valmiina, eikä tarvinnut juosta kaupoilla.
Tuesday, my second day in Germany, was all about getting important things done. I got some paper from one place, and brought another paper somewhere else. Once again some shopping (how much stuff one needs to buy for a teeny tiny flat!?) and unpacking. I'm not gonna lie, these first days in Germany have been a lot busier than the first days in London few years ago. Though back then I had everything ready for me in the host family, and I didn't have to do any shopping.

kivan oloisiin putiikkeihin. Yksi ihana kahvilakin löytyi tältä reissulta, ja
aion ehdottomasti käydä siellä vielä monen monta kertaa.
On Wednesday I wanted to have a little more relaxed day, although I did have things to do. The start of the school next day was already making me a little nervous and I wanted to do just some nice relaxing things and get my thoughts away from the Thursday. After doing just one small paperwork I went to explore the city centre without any specific plans. I just strolled around the old town, visited some cute shops and found a really nice cafe too. I'll definitely visit there many times.

Now I’ve been here in Germany about two weeks, and the time is flying. After these first days I think that both the country and the city are lovely, and I’m so excited for this winter! I’ve also filmed some bits and pieces during the first week here, and I’ll try and get it out as soon as possible. In the video you’ll see more about the first days in the school and other stuff from the weekend too. So far so good here in Germany, and I’m looking forwad to see what the upcoming weeks are bringing along. Tschüs!
