Yksi parhaista asioista tänä kesänä on ollut mun kolmen pikkusisaruksen vierailu. Yövieraat on aina hauskoja, mutta erityisen ihania silloin, kun kyseessä on joku omasta perheestä. Meidän viimeisenä yhteisenä päivänä käytiin Kiasmassa tsekkaamassa Shoplifterin Nervescape VIII -näyttely. Tokikaan se ei ollut ainoa näkemämme näyttely, mutta ehdottomasti se, jota olimme odottaneet eniten.
One of the best things during this summer so far has been my three little siblings visiting us. It's always fun having someone to stay over, and even more so, when it's someone(s) from the family. On the last day together we went to see the Nervescape VIII exhibition by Shoplifter at Kiasma modern art museum. Obviously it wasn't the only exhibition in the museum, but surely the one we were most excited to see.
Shoplifterin tavaramerkki on hiusten (aidon ja feikin) käyttö taiteessa, ja sitä voit olettaa näkeväsi myös Nervescape VIII -näyttelyssä. Kiasman viidennessä kerroksessa eteesi avautuu valtava, värikäs ja karvainen installaatio, jossa kaikkeen saa koskea. Seinällä on kyltti, joka opastaa silittämään taideteosta kuin se olisi "ujo vanha mammutti". Ihan supersöpöä!
Shoplifter's signature material is hair (both fake and real), and that's what you can expect to see in Nervescape VIII exhibition as well. Located on the fifth floor in Kiasma, you'll find a huge, colourful and furry installation, and you are actually able to touch everything. On the wall there is a sign, that tells you to pet the artwork like "it were a shy old mammoth". So cute!
Valtavat ja värikkäät installaatiot ovat aina mun lemppareita, joten lienee tarpeetonta sanoa, että tykkäsin Nervescape VIII -näyttelystä ihan hurjan paljon. Tykkään väreistä, ja kokonainen huone täynnä kirkkaita ja voimakkaita värejä, on just mun tyylinen huone. Jos säkin tykkäät väreistä tai hienoista installaatioista, niin suosittelen lämpimästi käymään Kiasmassa kurkkaamassa Shoplifterin näyttely ihan omin silmin. Näyttely näyttää upealta kuvissa, mutta vielä paremmalta oikeassa elämässä.
Huge and colourful installations are always my favourite ones, so needless to say that Nervescape VIII was just my cup of tea. Colours make me happy, and a room full of bold colours is just something I really like. If you too like colours or cool installations, I definitely recommend you to visit Kiasma and see the whole thing yourself. It looks cool in the pictures, but even better in real life!
Hävettää vähän myöntää, mutta kun ekan kerran kuulin Shoplifteristä, luulin sitä näyttelyn nimeksi. Vasta myöhemmin tajusin kyseessä olevan taiteilijanimi. Islantilaisen Shoplifterin oikea nimi, Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir oli liian vaikea monille ulkomaalaisille, joten hän alkoi käyttää taiteilijanimeä Shoplifter. Taiteellaan hän haluaa inspiroida ihmisissä ilon ja onnen tunteita, mikä on musta aika ihana syy luoda taidetta!
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but when I first heard about Shoplifter, I actually thought it was just a name of the exhibition, but I soon realized it's actually the name of the artist herself. Her real icelandic name, Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir, was too difficult for so many foreigners, that she started using Shoplifter instead. With her art she wants to inspire people to feel joy and happiness. Such a lovely reason to create art!
